Toshiba Launches Small Encapsulated Motor Drive ICs with Fewer External Components, Saving Circuit Board Space

    Toshiba Electronic Components and Storage Devices Co., Ltd. ("Toshiba") today announced the launch of motor drive ICs "TB67S581FNG", "TB67S580FNG", "TB67H481FNG", and "TB67H480FNG" for consumer products and industrial equipment. The required number of external components has not only been reduced, but also a very versatile and space saving small package has been adopted. With the launch of four new products, Toshiba has further expanded its product line. This product supports bulk shipment starting today.
    Among them, the new products TB67S581FNG and TB67S580FNG are 2-phase bipolar stepper motor drive ICs. The motor output rated voltage (absolute maximum) of TB67S581FNG is 50V, the motor output rated current (absolute maximum) is 2.5A [1], and the motor output rated voltage (absolute maximum) and current (absolute maximum) of TB67S580FNG are 50V and 1.6A [1], respectively.
    The other two products, TB67H481FNG and TB67H480FNG, are constant current dual H-bridge drive ICs. The motor output rated voltage (absolute maximum) is 50V, and the motor output rated current (absolute maximum) is 2.5A [1]. The input interface of TB67H481FNG is IN input, while TB67H480FNG uses PHASE input.
    The four products launched today use a highly versatile small HTSSOP28 package, with a surface area approximately 39% smaller than the HTSSOP48 package used by Toshiba‘s current product TB67S109AFNG. Unlike the QFN type packaging with terminals arranged around it, the HTSSOP packaging arranges terminals in two directions, making wiring on the circuit board more convenient. These ICs are internally integrated with capacitors for charge pump circuits, which not only reduces external components but also saves circuit board space.
    The motor drive IC not only supports motor power voltages of 8.2V to 44V, but also has a low power consumption current (IM1) of up to 20 in sleep mode μ A. Therefore, it can be widely used in 12V/24V power supply applications.
    Toshiba will continue to develop widely used products and provide overall solutions to help simplify design, reduce circuit board area, and reduce total costs.
