    On February 24, according to foreign media reports, in order to enhance the competitiveness of the semiconductor industry, South Korea has agreed to invest 222.9 billion won in the next 10 years to cultivate top semiconductor talents.

    South Korea has agreed to invest in training semiconductor talents, which was disclosed by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea on Thursday.

    According to the released news, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of the Republic of Korea, Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix and the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association have signed a memorandum of understanding and agreed to invest 222.9 billion won in a number of research and development projects from this year to 2032.

    The specific talent training project will be jointly led by chip manufacturers and universities. They hope to train at least 2365 semiconductor talents with master‘s degree or above in the next 10 years.

    Semiconductors are one of the dominant industries in South Korea, especially memory chips. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, two major manufacturers, have a considerable share in the global memory chip market. Semiconductors are also important export products of South Korea, accounting for about 20% of the export volume of South Korea.

    South Korea agreed to invest in training semiconductor talents, mainly to maintain their competitiveness in the semiconductor industry and provide talent support for the development of the semiconductor industry. In the face of intensified competition in the global chip industry and talent shortage, South Korea has also been providing support for the chip industry.
